p.s. Ive never been in Tia Ilda...good in there? and would they serve just me,alone?

I have been travelling to Carvoeiro for 30 years and very rarely have i had a poor meal, this August saved Boteca for the last evening, my boyfriend had just flown out for a short visit and it was so bad, i refused to pay for the main as it was inedible - and the most expensive meal of the holiday - don't go !!

Just returned from CVO this evening. Went to O Boteco fior lunch over the weekend. Sad to report that my experience this year mirrors those quoted by most. The sardines were small, took a while to arrive, TWO half potatoes and a little salad, mst disappointing. Needless to say, won't make that mistake again.
On a lighter note however, went last night to Island Cafe on the road from the water tower at Sesmarias towards Feragudo. Now that is a great experience! Wonderfully laid out, this is a place that deserves to succeed. Over 200 bottles of wine in stock, the place advertises on Freemap give-away sheet as an Americam-style restaurant. Probably wouldn't have gone there if not for last nights' thunderstorm, couldn't be bothered to " run the gauntlet " of " the hill ", so went somewhere closer to our villa, had passed during the day, so decided to give Island Cafe a try. Nice welcome, good and efficient service, good food cooked as I asked, I had fillet steak, my wife the half-chicken, a decent bottle of wine and a dessert, 61 euros for the whole thing. Anybody else been?

Can anyone give details of O´Boteco? Who owns it? Is it a typical traditional Portuguese Restaurant? Hours? I´ve only been by it when I go to read on the cliffs above the ocean... :

Hi Gusteau and welcome to the forum! We've been several times to O B and it has definitely lost much of it's appeal over the last few years. As for ownership, this is part of a Group of Companies who also own an hotel in the area. If you read back through the forum, you'll see many comments on this place, together with the owners details ( I can't remember, possibly too much gin! )

its owned by the people who own Solfeiras hotel and staffed by folk from there .It desperately needs a proper maitre d and chef to sort it out and it could be the place to go

That´s excatly what my friends and I were saying last night! Not sure if Ramsey would come though...Should I email him? I know a few guys here that would do it if the ownership was willing to change...
