Tesco clubcard vouchers saved up, have allowed us to exchange the instore value of the vouchers for 4x's their worth on certain products, P/O Ferries happens to be one of them. Anyway after the experience last year of trying to do things cheaply via La Shuttle motorway toll's and camping through France and Spain and arriving knackered both ways its the ferry this year and the crossing will be the holiday as once in the Algarve its business as usual.
Tell me Bruce your usual way of getting from UK to the Algarve with loads of luggage, maybe your 'Studio' pays. Liz

Hi Liz,
Not sure if this is any good to you ( and its a few years since we stayed there) but theres a motel called 'Picon Del Conde' just before you get to Burgos:
Tel no :947-59 43 55
From what I can make out on the card its between the A1 & N1(coming from France direction)
the address is : Picon Del Conde, Monasterio De Rodilla, Burgos.
We've stayed there on a couple of trips(it was new then),very clean, modern rooms (we had a family room with en suite), has bar & restaurant..
its also a camping area (swimming pool I think)
and the family who run it were very nice & friendly..and as I recall it was very reasonable prices,
Don't know if this is any help to you
ellie

I have to be honest Lizzie, Julia and I would love to do the Bilboa, run, but havent due to A) The prohibitive cost and (B) Until I retire we dont get long enough to justify losing the 4 days tavelling time involved.
In answer to your other point.....we sent stuff over in a big truck to start with, and have since taken stuff over in dribs and drabs on the plane.
I cant believe how expensive that route is though....you can fly to the far east for the same price....maybe Ill look into the Tesco idea!
Enjoy your trip.
