A REDE - Closed??

Post by pacwest1cat »

I recommended to a friend of mine that he visit A Rede the next time he was on holiday. He told me a few weeks ago that the restaurant had been shut down on health and safety grounds!!
Can someone please tell me what's happening as this is always one of our regular restaurants when we visit. (Due out again in 4 weeks)

Many thanks

Not heard about that! Will ask around this evening. I had a meal there last night and it was as busy as usual. Will see if Jo at the Accordeo knows what has happened.

As I understand it, the restaurant has only been closed on a Monday (the same as always) - there has been no mention of any health and safety problems.

I was also told, however, that several restaurants have received health and safety "advice" and this does not close them down, they simply have to comply with the report and then are revisited. There was no mention of A Rede though - this was just a general bit of information.

All the restuarants, bars etc will be receiving an EHO visit by the local authority out inCVO similiar 2 ones in the UK.
I was approached 2 take over the the role 4 the area following an appointment that was sent 2 CIEHO, 18 months ago. Its an EU appointment that was 4 an English speaking EHO/TO 2 open up dialogue and take over food inspections and health and safety in the non Portugese sector in the Algarve. I think 3 of the posts have been filled by English speaking EHOs/TOs.As there was a shortage the rest is being done by the Portugese Health Dept.

When I was over in july I was told that all restaurants now have to have stainless steel work tops as part of health and safty legislation and those that dont cannot open until they have been replaced, that was why the restaurant down at Algar Seca (sorry the name escapes me) was closed for refurbishment at the height of the season.

Perhaps Baggysallyjane could explain her acronyms and abbreviations to save any confusion?
