Garden centre

Post by lizzieh »

Anyone know where abouts a garden centre is near Alte. We came across it a few years ago whilst househunting and would like to back and have a look around. Its near to Alte has about three diiferent sites and we think on one of the back roads to Paderne, they grow most of their own stock including trees!. Many thanks Liz

Hi Liz :)
How about the one on outskirts of Lagoa(not bigjomc's one)..as you leave Lagoa and drive towards Carvoeiro, its on the right-hand side? Ive never been in there but noticed lotsa shrubs/trees?
I used to go to one (when living there) near Lagoa as I recall, run by a Dutch fella but can't remember where it is /was :?

Ellie - the one I think you mean is between Odiaxere and Lagos, on the N125 opposite Mestre Maco/Mundo do Sapato. We've used it several times and found them very helpful

Everything I said, he would say the opposite..and I would get quite hot under the collar!!
I bought quite a lotta stuff there, for my 'roof garden' .
Thanks for teling me its whereabouts..I know we used to drive there but didn't have a clue where!

Hi Ellie, I think you mean the one just outside Lagoa on the old road to Silves.

I know a very large garden centre Dutch owners) near Algarve shopping at the EN125.
When you drive to Algarve shopping go past it and just follow the road, after approx. 1 km it is on the left hand side of the road. Is this the one you mean?

I think Lizzieh may refer to the one at Foral (Larga Vista) on road from Algoz to Messines close to Krazy World

Ok but the one I mention fits the description you gave "we think on one of the back roads to Paderne, they grow most of their own stock including trees!." and is no distance from Paderne in fact.

biffa, have just looked at the map and you may well be right, is the nursery on about 3 different sites, hope it is the right one as we eventually bought place just north eaast of Mesinnes and this one would be quite local. Its not at all where we remembered 'it' though must admitt that we were staying near Salir and were driven round from there as far as Portiamio, Monchique, and Loule along many back roads.
have you bought anything from the nursery and will it be worthwhile us visiting it. Many thanks and apologies to biffa.

Hi have watched this topic and have been tempted to respond. But i know of four such centres in and around this area and was not sure which one was the one mentioned. However the one Biffa mentions in Foral Larga Vista as far as i am aware is a commercial nursery and not open to the public. Yes it has three sites and the road goes between these sites with a large hedge bordering the road in many parts. And the road is very curved as you go through. Also as the now not so new motorway is nearby you have to go over the motorway bridge if you approach it from Paderne, if you approach it from the Algoz Messines road you turn off at Restaurant Frango Dourado.

God i wish i was quicker on this laptop keyboard
