auto GPS systems in Algarve

Post by Hoser »

Has anyone used a GPS auto system (with voice and screen directions) to find their way about the Algarve and Spain? If yes what model would they recommend? Over here we have many models which have detailed mapping available for North America, howevere I have not seen any with Portugal maps. Considering the paper maps I have seen for the Algarve I wonder if there is anything detailed enough to use with a GPS. Anything to make driving about and finding specific addresses is a plus.

I am coming over in 10 days and have a europe map on my Tomtom. I have already zoomed in on my villas road in Monte CVO so that looks good.

I have used my TomTom Go 300 many times, both around the Algarve and to and from Lisbon airport without any problems at all.

On one occassion, just for the fun of it, Sharen and I went to Monchique for the day; on our way back we did the opposite to what TT told us to do . . . and we had a great time exploring the countryside. After a couple of hours we did as we were bid - and got back to the villa easily.

Thanks for the info so far, I have been looking favourable at Tom Tom models, however, has anyone used other models such as Garmin, Magellan or Microsoft with their PC laptop? All the information you can pass on will be appreciated by me and probably anyone reading this topic.
