Hello OGM, just back today after a week away.

Mixed weather but mostly fair to brilliant. It was chucking it down when we left this morning, hopefully it would have cleared up in the afternoon.

Are you flying from Aberdeen? The new flights by Flyglobespan are fantastic, we used to have a trek down to the central belt which usually meant an overnight stay on the way out and a long drive on the way home. The flight was full both ways so it's a good sign, we may get even more flights next year.

Have a great time. 8)

Hey Aberoy,
We are flying from Edinburgh, the flights from Aberdeen didn't exist when we booked , 3hrs drive from Edinburgh and we can leave home early morning to catch flight , early flight back so no overnight stay required. Hopefully the new flights from Aberdeen will continue and we will definitely fly from there the next time , we are only about 20 mins from Aberdeen airport.

Can't wait , counting down the days now, thanks for wishing us a good time , very kind of you :D

Do you know where the best place is to buy fresh sardines ? Is there a market in CVO and if so can you or anyone else help us with it's location.

Many thanks 8)

Hi - regarding the query about a market place in CVO.

Click onto http://www.carvoeiro.com/Guide/maps/Carvmap1.gif

You can get to the indoor market by taking a left turn going up 'retaurant hill' and its immediately on the right. Well stocked market for fresh meat but I'm sure they have fish as well. If not, there's definitely a big fish market in Silves (nice place for a day out)!

The indoor food market in Carvoeiro had a fish stall last time we were there. Has great fruit and veg stalls also a fresh meat counter.

Enjoy your holiday.

Roll on 24th August!

Yes, there is a very good fresh fish section. But be there before 10am to get the best choice.

Fishy business

Post by biffa »

Sign of the times. For the lazy, or maybe the squeamish who don't like being looked at by a sardines eye, you can now buy ready to grill sardine fillets in various places including Modelo Lagoa.

Salt them a bit and pop 'em on the bbq and they are done in no time - wolf the whole lot down - no waste.

Of course you still need the rough bread, salad, small boiled potatoes in their skin and copious red wine to make it all authentic!
