Villa security

In light of the recent events in Praia da Luz there seems to be a new concern spreading amongst travellers to the Algarve - "How secure is the property I am renting?"

When this question dropped into my inbox this morning I must confess that I was feeling a mixture of disbelief and anger. "What on earth is wrong with the world today?"

Every villa and hotel room comes issued with a security warning for travellers:

"Please ensure that you do not leave any valuable objects unattended in your villa/room or vehicle"

Naturally we always assumed that children, who are unable to think and act independently, fall under the category "valuable objects".
Clearly we were mistaken.

The securty warning will now be ammended to:
"Please ensure that you do not leave any valuable objects or children unattended in your villa/room or vehicle"

For those of you who may be thinking this is a hoax, think again.
There are actually more people out there concerned with the possibility of locking their children in a villa, room or car and leaving them to their own devices.

There is no passive securty that any houseowner can provide that will ensure 100% security and there is no safeguard better for children than an attentive parent or professional babysitter.

This is not rocket science, just common sense.
