Birthday Party or Treat for 4 year old

Can anyone suggest a special treat for our granddaughter who will have her fourth birthday in Carvoeiro in June. We will certainly order a birthday cake but is there anywhere we could go to give her some fun on the day. She has been to the zoo up the Monchique road and to the water parks. Is there somewhere else we don't know about? Since she will be the only child with us on the holiday apart from her baby sister, interactivity with other children would be great. Any ideas?

Our daughter is 3 and she loves going to either the Zoomarine at Guia, or the zoo in Lagos both are a good day out for little ones and "bigger little ones"...If you go to the zoo in Lagos take change as you can hand feed the birds and pigs (coin operated food dispenser)

Zoomarine is a good day out. Loads to do and see. Not sure about the interactivity with other kids though.

My son is 5 and adores Zoomarine. He has now been three times (once on each visit) and always finds something new to keep him occupied. He lives for the day when he will be picked to sit in the little boat during the Dolphin show. Very well organised and plenty for the children to do - and they are building a whole new section which should be open this summer. The other thing I want to do with Toby is take him out on a Dolphin trip. I think he would really enjoy that - would that be a possibility for your little one?

fmm - your son may now be too large at 5 to be picked for the dolphin boat - but if you want to try just get to the show 15 mins early and go up to the white control room in the middle of the auditorium and ask - it always worked with our boys!

Thanks Graham - wish I'd mentioned it before now! We are always at least 20 minutes early as he likes to be able to walk around and choose the best seat, finish his popcorn and be able to concentrate when the dolphins come on. The popcorn at Zoomarine is exceptional value compared to the prices paid for it in UK cinemas ...

I have to say Toby's idea of bliss is going to Zoomarine in the morning, having lunch there, going from there to the beach at about 2.30ish, staying on the beach until 6ish, back to the apartment (for a bath, which is not his idea of bliss!) get changed, then out for spaghetti bolognese!

Where are you staying Ellie2 and for how long? How long into the holiday is the birthday. Hopefully, there will be other kids of her age staying close and she will make some friends.

Not cheap, but how about the Zoomarine idea already posted, but going for the Swimming with Dolphins option? Recommended to pre book as numbers are limited.

My kids have done this twice and loved it.
