Hi,

what exactly are you needing to know? When are you planning on getting married?

Thanks,
Monique

Hi
A friend of mine looked into this a few years ago. there was no problem getting the licence but you had to be 'resident' in the country for at least 3 weeks to apply.

Wedding

Hi Fred, We got married in Carvoeiro in 2005, well Sesmarias to be exact. It was a bit of a 'mare trying to arrange it - we went to the registry office in lagoa and pretended to be living there (at my sister's address) but they didnt seem to believe me so we got married at the registry office in Newcastle, then came out to Portugal in October and had a blessing in my sisters garden by the pool. It was just like a real wedding! We had a gazebo in which to stand with the vicar (Rev. Eric britt) and make our vows. We got all the food delivered from the roast chicken take-away in carvoeiro in taxis! We bought all the wine, spirits and beers at Plus and Intermarche - we made Cairpirinhas as a welcome drink for our guests and had big jugs of wine, and terracotta drinking vessels. My brother-in-law on the Portuguese side provided the wedding cake which was a big fresh fruit and fresh cream gateau. Our biggest single expense was hiring the band to play for the evening - but it was worth it. Plus we invited all the neighbours so they couldn't complain about the noise! It was the best day of my life ............ Have fun. x x

Oh, I see! Well, it was just rather than saying, Sergio, my sister Rachel's boyfriend, you know and getting all long-winded which it has turned out to be anyway!
