cheap property
cheap property
I always dreamed of buying a holiday home in the south of France until I fell in love with Carvoeiro some years back. I could still afford to buy in France in the coming years but would love to buy in the Algarve instead but I have travelled all around Carvoeiro and surrounding areas (way up in the hills etc.) but property is just beyond my reach. I would ideally want to send about €130k and spend the next few years doing it up. Can anyone tell me are there cheaper areas still available inland from Carv. and if so then where. I have fallen in love with the country but alas money only goes so far !! I have been told that property is cheaper if you travel east from the airport at Faro but that would leave me a long way from my beloved Carv. I will be back down in two weeks and could visit any areas which are still within budget. I do appreciate that this budget is very small and i will need to move inland quite a bit but general areas would be very helpful

Have a word with Claudia Boto at Vernons (think the details are on CVO.com homepage?). She knows the area and the market really well. Good luck. http://www.vernon-algarve.com/

£130K
Robbie, it depends what you want. There's a 2 bed semi-detached villa on the market just now for offers over €163K, and you could get an apartment within your budget. As other "poster" commented, speak to Claudia at Vernon's.

This is the link - there is also another properly for around 150k euros which is a little bigger - still on the same complex. There are about 10/12 apartments, many of which are lived in by people all year round. Last August when I went for two weeks, I was nearly always the only person in the swimming pool - very quiet!

here are the details of the slightly more expensive one which is quite a lot bigger. The apartments are around 20 years old and are repainted etc every three years or so. It is 5 minutes walk to the beach (and about 8 minutes back up the hill!) - 4 restaurants within 20 yards of the apartment.
