O Brasinhas, Carvoeiro Mar

Post by bifas 1st darling! »

Had lunch here the other day, very nice caldeirada de peixe (fish stew), and not too expensive.

I think they do a dish of the day plus meat and fish dishes or you can just sit in the sun and have a toastie and coffee on the terrace in front of the pool.

Go up Estrada do Farol turn off to the left after Vimar towards Aldeia das Chiminés and it's on the left

Open every day from 08:00, I think!!

Strange! We had dinner there last weekend. If I had known I would have waited for your invite! We too found it good and more important good value. It is by Bubbles Bar - the same place that was a Mexican for a short while.

Mostly grilled food as the name indicates they do a very nice picanha for about 8,5 Euros. Good wine list with a pleasant Alentejo house wine at 8 Euros going up to some good stuff at 35 Euros. Vida Nova a la Sir Cliff Richard on sale there at 19 Euros. One of us had garlic prawns to start - good size and quantity but oddly comes with rice (?). Starter, main course wine, water, coffees and a brandy came to less than 40 Euros

All in all a good value Portuguese restaurant well worth a look.

Had dinner here the other night, very limited menu, not necessarily a bad thing but very, very plain; we had the fish stew unfortunately the fish used on that day was eel which I love but it was absolutely full of all the little bones, the flavour was delicious but my plate looked like a massacre had taken place on it & after all the fiddling about trying to avoid the bones there were barely more than a few mouthsful. Also the service was quite po-faced, we had to work hard to get a smile. Shame 'cos it's a nice venue & really reasonably priced, we will give it another go.

Last wednesday we had dinner over there. Excellent meal - fish and meat. Very friendly staff. Low prices and lots of parking space. We certainly go back there.

Been back here a few times over the last month, gets better every day!!

As it's very quiet this time of the year they're only open during the day and do a couple of "dishes of the day" typical Portugues cusine (I can remember someone asking where they could try it), like feijoadas, carapaus alimados, lulas cheias, caldeiradas de peixe, peixe cozido, etc

For a quick, cheap lunch give it a go

Had a table of 7 on Friday. Good - nothing out of this world but good honest Portuguese type food. Starters, mains, 2 bottles of wine water and usual kids drinks, coffees, couple of brandies - €21 a head

We went last week. For a party of 4 main course plus deserts plus coffee, wine and cokes the bill came to €61. The food and service were good. It is not Bonbon but then nor are the prices. We were impressed and will add it to our list of regular places to visit.
