YOR Car Hire

Post by Farol »

I have just returned from a trip and used YOR as I have done on many previous occasions but his time on collecting the car at Faro airport they tried to charge extra for payment by credit card.

I have never had this from them before and at one time they used to give a 4% discount for cash.

The rep only waived the extra cost after he had phoned his office after I refused to pay.

I cannot see anything in their Terms and Conditions about having changed their policy and now charging a credit card surcharge.

Seems like a quick way to lose regular customers.

I too have used YOR car hire for years with no problems.
I am hiring from them on Tuesday and have been quoted the usual rate for cash which includes the 4% discount.
Most companies now charge a credit card fee, perhaps they have jumped on the bandwagon.

Do they charge for putting the excess fee on the card? I don't mind the credit card fee for the actual hire but for the refundable deposit I'm not keen, especially as you probably won't see the rep on the way home.

I'll check Laserblazer and let you know although I don't pay the super CDW as I've taken out an annual policy. Saves a fortune

They don't charge extra for the open credit card slip to cover the excess.

They wanted to increase the hire charge for the week because I wanted to pay on a credit card (as I have always done without any previous attempt to charge more).

Thanks Davecwill, is this the same as the insurance excess which always seems to cost me six euro per day..its not that i,m complaining about about a few bob but over the course of a year it,s five or seven weeks at forty odd a week ...its nearly a years insurance at normal rates.

Gerry, if you look back a few posts, Tricky has an annual policy to cover CDW. It's been mentioned before with details on where to get it from. Soulnds like it might be worth you considering.

There are no credit card surcharges for bookings made through http://www.algarvedriver.com - conditions are exactly as advertised on the site.

YOR might have different conditions for bookings made through other sites.

We generate an important number of bookings through www.carvoeiro.com ( http://www.algarvedriver.com ) and I try to negotiate the best prices and conditions possible. The commission earned is a big help in running this site.

Should you find a lower price elsewhere YOR will usually match it.
