DVD player/playstation

We have just bought a property in Carvoeiro and are coming out in a couple of weeks time. Please could anyone tell me if I was to bring out a DVD player or playstation from the UK would it work with Portuguese television? Also do DVD Discs purchased in England work on Portuguese DVD players if we bought one in Portugal. Thanks

Yes to all questions. They even use SCART connectors.

We bought a DVD player last week in Staples at the Portimao Retail Park for 34.90 euros. Works fine and was the cheapest we found locally.

Our last one stopped working suddenly and we wondered whether the damp had got to it as the apartment had been empty for three months! Decided to buy cheap and replace as necessary.

We bought a cheap one at the Algarve Shopping Mall - think the shop is called Worten - its near the entrance to Contiente. Can't remember the price but it seemed good value.

thanks for your replies. When we come over on the 12th we're going to be very busy shopping for various things i.e sofas/sofa beds, dvd players and bits and bobs for our apartment. I'm always reading the forum and it's been really helpful in finding the best places to shop.
