of course we're all friends here --good debate this one----little arguing never hurt anyone--jaw jaw not war war----stimulating----keeps the brain keen-----
But lets not forget that folk can get hurt here and I do sympathise with someone like angryman--who may well have suffered a lot as a child---and as Rod rightly says --whats a bit of litter/graffiti compared to the attrocities carried out in his homeland----please God let peace come to that troubled placesoon---I pray so, amen
As for kicking each other up the arse
Reminds me of episode of "Father Ted"
--remember that one--kicking Father Brennan up the arse

Good sites Coop--took a look earlier.
The thing is Pinkie---I got very angry at a "Guest" naming the person/persons they thought were carrying out the graffiti;especially when those concerned are children--I know one of them and hes 13 --still a minor--instead of doing that --if "Guest" had gone to have a word with the parents I believe that would have been more constructive, instead of blazening the kids names on here 
I really do think youre making far too much of the graffiti lark here--come to some of our inner cities here and see something you really need to worry about---latest craze--drive-by shootings/drugs etc--petrol soaked rags pushed through letter boxes setting fire to homes of people because their of different race/persuasion-----kids nicking cars and ramraiding --I could go on but thats enough for now------
Your troubles there are minute to other places in this troubled world of ours. Think youselves lucky
and I repeat --Carvoeiro still holds all its charm for me--and Im sure it will continue to do so.
Be constructive and help those young kids doing the graffiti--before they go down the road you see so many others taking--especially here in UK.

Well Said, Ellie. I think you've put it into perspective. Thank goodness.
We are about to sign on the dotted line for a property in CVO, and the
comments re the litter, grafiti etc, over the past few days has been worrying to say the least. I've not personally been out to CVO for 2 years but when my husband visited to view the property in June, he said, to his eyes it still looked the same, and that is was a great place to be.

I hope hubbie doesn't choose your outfits Tricky? Did he notice the new Jewellers and Boutique on Restaurant hill 
We were there last month and the massive crane behind the webcam wasn't there last year nor lots of new buildings, shops apts? on the way into town which are still empty/unsold?We really hope that the building work comes to an end (views are being spoilt?) Carvoeiro does still have its charm but we really felt that too much has been built this year and more building isn't what residents want?? goodness knows what the village will be like with all the extra traffic?
All the best with the apt. you are very lucky but just felt we had to say Carvoeiro isn't the same structurally as 2 years ago but the friendly people are still there and ever welcoming.

Hi tricky---Id like to add my good wishes and luck to you--and glad your hubby felt the same about CVO---I believe it still maintains its"fishing village" ambience-----but Im also sympathetic to Guests fears about extended building ---d'you think it will finish with all those new shops/restaurants on edge of town on the way in You mentioning the "crane" Guest---I watched it manoevered into position on first day -and stood there with mymouth open terrified as I watched a man swinging perilously from the top --seemingly with out any safety harness or hard hat 
Some things in Portugal never change and that also includes, as youve said, the people, their friendliness and hospitality--and its the people that "make" a place,

no ellie just for the record i wouldn,t dream of calling you stupid,but i can,t agree with your views on this,ive had to deal with too many of these misunderstood little shits.Start by teaching them right from wrong ,they don,t have to understand why,too many parents bore the hell out of the kids with deep explanations ,they,ll understand why as they grow up.
You don,t have to batter someone to get their attention but nothing concentrates the mind of a bold child like a clip across ear.The idea of the swift kick is not to make them understand it,s to make them stop.If kids don,t respect you enough to follow your wishes ,just because you ask them,then why the hell should they show respect for a waitress/waiter/teacher etc.The trouble with all the soft soaping is that while we,re waiting for it to work the victems mount up.

I walked out of the ice cream shop one day and some young punk driving
by in a car threw water in my face, it did not have a salty taste, so
I can assume it was water. Who knows what they will throw at you
next. Graffitti and litter I can put up with but that..no.
Carvoeiro is a nice town, but like every place where there is tourist,
it will be problems, but I guess we will just have to live with it.
