Can you help?

Post by ceh »

Having completed the purchase of a villa yesterday we now have some work to do. I've already made use of information on paint from CIN etc which has been really helpful (and excellent paint and service).

I have a few queries that I've not been able to locate answers to so any help appreciated.

1) Where can we buy electrical switches etc (have seen them in the supermarket but is there an electrical store/supplier somewhere)? The face plates need upgrading and some are broken.

2) Is there a B & Q equivalent nearby?

3) Where is a good place for bathroom fittings?

4) Any recommendations re plumbers to refit a bathroom/shower room?

Thanks

Hi CEH, best of luck with your villa. There is a fairly large DIY store at Lagoa, up to the lights and turn right. It's about 400yds on the left next to the shoe store. Not sure what it's called but they will sell switches and plumbing fittings. I think it goes without saying that you need to turn the power off before messing with the electrics

CIN aare very good, their paint is a bit more expensive but covers better than the cheaper DIY store equivalent.

The can find all your electrical bits an pieces at Mestre Mako in Lagoa ( on the main road next to shoe world or at Leroy Merlin ( much bigger ) opposite the Algarve shopping centre .
Have Fun !!

Leroy Merlin actually seems to be the biggest and the cheapest.
I know of a reliable plumber in Carvoeiro. Please pm me if you would like his details.

Thanks for your replies - will be back in early February and now have several places to go looking for the DIY things we need.
