Christmas in Carvoeiro

Post by fmm »

We have just booked our flights for Christmas - coming out on 22nd December and back home on 27th December. I know that the weather is changeable and will probably be cold in the evenings. What else do I need to be aware of?

Are there any great places to go for Christmas Lunch?
Are there any special celebrations in Cvo?

We have air con/heating so we can warmup the apartment with that. Also having wafers in three of the rooms. We have an open fire which I assume burns wood. Where do we get the wood from (sounds really stupid, but I assume that someone must sell it somewhere locally?) At home in the UK the local farmer delivers ours and we pick kindling from under our trees. Do you get firelighters in Intermarche?

Any help (as always!) much appreciated!

Xmas

Post by Gary/Gaynor »

I asked that question last week as we are also spending Xmas in our apartment in CVO. I was told to go to the restaurant site but I think it's a case of trawling through the numbers and calling them to see if they are open Xmas day. I don't relish having to cook this year. We are out in Sept so may do a bit of asking around. If I come up with anything will let you know at a later date. Good luck, never know we could be having Xmas lunch on the next table......... :)

I am kind of hoping that Maximes will be open as we had such a good meal there last week. Hoping to get over in September as well so perhaps we can compare notes!!!

Christmas dinner

Post by White Rabbit »

Dont laugh , my family came to Carvoeiro at the last minute last year , and after a minor disaster we couldnt have Christmas dinner. We ended up with friends at Play oasis in Ferragudo. We had a lovely Christmas dinner , all the trimmings , plus vegatarian if wanted lots of drink and really nice people. So if you end up in a situation like we did call them. I think they have a website but not sure. It may have even been a one off I dont know , it was just great.

Hi, as far as I know Rascals are doing Christmas Lunch this year and if Rachels Sunday lunch is anything to go by then it should be wonderful, with a fantastic atmosphere. And then if you want to boogie off some of that delicious turkey stuffing, pop across to Bar Charly, it has live music, it was great fun last year, and I´m sure it´ll be the same this year.

 fmm It should be the food there is lovely. We haven't done Christmas there yet but we do go out in Dec for a couple of days, I must say that Maximes is probably the only restaurant that really makes an effort for Christmas with loads of Decorations and a tree. Have fun.

Thanks LJ - I popped in to pick up the Christmas Day menu - up to 5 courses so we certainly won't go home hungry!
