Twas very windy, kept us awake and one or two gusts were pretty fierce. There was garden furniture scattered around but I didn't see any sign of structural damage.

Hi Mike - we are on Pestana (Gramacho). It seems that it was very localised - some villas got badly hit, some didn't.

We lost a lot of roof tiles and all but two trees. It was also strong enough to rip a large (about 100kg) plastic slide from it's bolts and send it (taking out a 20ft tree on the way!) into our neighbours garden.

It transpires that we are insured for the roofing and the slide - but not the trees. Since these are going to be expensive to replace, it may be worth checking your insurance to see if you are covered for these!

Tuesday was the worst night we've had. Although I think it was even worse further East. Lots of large road signs had been blown down, trees all over and plenty more damage to buildings etc.
