Smelly Carvoeiro

We stayed in Lagos for a few days a couple of weeks ago with some friends and took them to Carvoeiro to show them a favourite place of ours. We had a quick walk round the village and then sat in the square to have a drink.

Had to knock back the drinks pretty quickly as it was difficult to imagine staying there for more than a few minutes due to the smell from the drains there. Disgusting!

"Lovely place, but the stench has put us off coming back." Maybe not the first people to say that this year or were we unlucky and it was a one-off on 12th August?

Had coffee at Grand Café last night listening to the muisc. No smell at all.

Is that the bar in the right hand corner as you look at the sea, as that was the one we were sat at. Hopefully just a one off then. We get the odd smelly drain here too.

That's the one! In August with the whole sewage system at overload I guess things do occur. This matter has been explored on the Forum previously and was due to major drainage work in the square earlier this year.
