noticed on regiao sul about new digital maps which look impressive but I cant get the site to work.any ideas??

I dont know about the site you are trying to acces, but I have had great success with "Google Map"
To find it go into the Google search engine. type in "Google map"

It will give you a Mercator map of the world.
Double click on Portugal then start + ing on the lower scale displayed. As you get in closer you can centre in on the algarve, then closer CVO. To keep you target in the centre just keep double clicking on where you want to zoom into.
When you get zoomed to about 4 from the top of the scale, click on "hybrid" at the top of the page. This will superimpose and actual sat photo over the map. Find what you want to zero in on and then +,+,+ to the top. You can make shifts right, left ,up and down with the scale on the top left.

Using this I can identify my actual villa on the cliffs at Centeannes, and get detailled shots of the entire area..(hours of fun)

The same works for anywhere in the world, but some places wont give you pictures zoomed right in. I.E I can see the paving slabs in my garden in Carshalton inside the M25, but looking at Woodbridge in Suffolk it is disappointing.

Martin, you have found a great site for maps. It is a lot better than Google's satellite pictures. The digital site works similar to Googles. Just select the "+" magnifying item from the tool bar at the top of the map box and zoom in to the site you want to look at. I can zoom right on to CVO's beach and still get a great rendition. Thanks for the info.

If you like Google maps you can also try Google Earth (just type in google Earth in the search bar). You can do most of the same but you can angle the picture to get a view of the terrain in some areas, try the Grand Canyon.

although google earth has been up dated for 2006 it is still well out of date there are several new developments in and around the village which are not shown at all or even the commencement of any construction work

re google earth this has been mentioned some time ago..with ref to the algarve digital ..there is a map but when I go to the magnifying glass symbol it clicks onto a hour glass but nothing happens

or of you type in on the enquiry page also nothing

any ideas

Just tried it. Yes, the hour glass appears and the maps zooms in only slightly so that it doesn't appear to have done anything. It actually has zoomed in. Keep on clicking your "+" over the spot you want and the zoom keeps on happening (at least that's how it works for me).

One other item I have noticed are the two boxes at the right and lower part of the page marked: "Cartografia" and "Fotografia" Make sure these two items are in their own boxes otherwise you will get a different picture. You just click onto these names and the boxes will either appear or disappear along side of whatever happens to the big map display screen. Check out the other names listed on the right side too. It will give locations on the screen for many other things such as restaurants, hospitals, info sites etc..

Martin, let us know if you get it working or not.
