Car Rental????

Post by worstie »

I am flying out to Faro on Saturday morning and am looking at renting a hire car. Any suggestions?? Someone has given me the name Zit Autos but cannot find on the internet and will have to book this way as no time to ring. Does anyone know if they have a website / email address? Thanks.

Try www.carjet.com ignore the pop ups and go straight for Faro airport where the cars offered there are from Budget rentacar at cheaper prices than budget offer. Pity you didn't book last week as you would have saved another 10%

Try emailing reserva@airauto.pt. I've used them a few times and found them pretty good. Can't find their website at the moment, I'm sure they'll give it to you.

I use CARjet.com, everytime I am in Portugal and they have always been cheaper and better than others.

car hire

Post by david »

No one can look at Zitauto at 160 euros for one week for either July or August. Carjet.com are quoting 200 euros. This is for a Punta five door or Renault Clio five door. :lol:
Zitauto will meet you with a board as you come through. The service is quick and friendly.

I prefer carjet as there are no hidden extras and no insurance excess either if you have a bump.

I think if you look again carefully ( get a quote from the net ) there is an excess. You can as with most car hire companies buy out the excess by paying a small amount per day.

There is no excess with carjet. The excess you are talking about is to insure the excess on the insurance policy. They do not recommend taking this out unless you have a car like a 4 wheel drive or above (read the details on the web). If you book and pay more than 7 days in advance they also discount the price by 10% as seen on the web. Book carjet for a good price and a car thats under 6 months old! And I don't work for them but have hired now 5 times in Portugal and 2 times in Spain.

I just asked for a quote from carjet.com > Renault Clio, one week in high season:
quoted price;
Example Model in this category : Renault Clio 3 dr

Rental cost for 7 days : EUR 187,00 = EUR 187.00

FAO=Faro Airport

The following items are not included :

Insurance excess value
When you collect your car at Faro Airport you will be asked to leave a credit card deposit to cover the vehicles insurance excess value. In the event that you damage the vehicle, your maximum responsibility is limited to this value. The value varies according to the type of car :
Compact cars Renault Clio, Citroen Saxo etc.
Insurance excess value/deposit : EUR 234,00 ( approx £ 145.00)

>>>>>>>

But please do check yourself! Get a quote from Carjet and see our offers at www.carrental.carvoeiro.org

Renault Clio 5 door high season rate: 166 Euro - that's over 10 % of Carjets price!

Thank you for all the great replies. I'm sure I'll find something with all the info. Now all I have to do is learn to drive on the wrong side of the road in a left hand drive car!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Carjet do have an excess policy, however if you book the ALL-Inclusive option that pops up when you go on to the site there is NO excess.
Carjet are very good in my experience, and look at the all inclusive option, it costs slightly more but you have total peace of mine when you scrape the car on a wall, as I did last year!
When I returned the car to the airport I pointed out the damage and they replied, no problem, no additional costs or hassle...

Just looked at the all inclusive price list and the Ford Focus that we were quoted 167euros for (one week 19th March) is now 204euros! Their prices seem to have gone up somewhat.
