Nicest restaurant in/aroud CVO for 30th Birthday

Post by AnnieK »

We are coming to Carvoeiro for the 1st time this summer. I will be celebrating my 30th birthday and hubby wants to bring me to an excellent restaurant. Can anyone recommend something a bit special.
? Travelling isn't a problem either (well, within reason  ) and any cuisine will do.

Thanks a mill :D

Ele Ela, Bella Vita or Maxines would be my choices - Ele Ela and Maxines are in the centre of Carvoeiro, Bella Vita is at Club Atlantico, about 10 minutes drive.

Rei das Praias at Caneiros beach is another lovely place for a special occasion - but you would definitely have to book in advance!

 For somewhere special I would try Brasserie Marina, it is closed on a Monday, run by Aart and Marion who are Dutch, the food is excellent, European/Portuguese/Dutch but with that something special, a bit more than the normal restaurants but for a special evening you can't beat it. phone: 282 342 736 www.brasseriemarina.com

Have a wonderful birthday

 The web site is dated 2002 so is a bit old, but it is a lovely place, we celebrated our 25th Anniversary there, and my birthday, the food is really good and the service has always been great, they have a lovely terrace you can sit out in for warm evenings or inside is beautiful.

Have a fun time.

:) Everyone has a favourite but I would also look at Julios or L'Orange, both opposite directions just out of Carveoiro. L'Orange you can walk to and the other is a taxi ride away. Both destinations you need to book and both are about 4-6 Euros away by taxi. Both do fiz by the glass so he can drink chilled beer and you can have the fiz The Village restuarant has been mentioned as a good one as well. Again a taxi ride away but not too far. Enjoy wherever you go its a special occasion. Happy Birthday 8)

Just in case you haven't had enough ideas to choose from ....... our favourite is the Bon Bon at Seismarias. Presentation and little extras make it special. There is also a nice terrace with views towards Monchique.

For seaviews I would endorse the previous recommendation of Rei das Prais at Caneiros - great views and great food.

Have a great time wherever you go !

Wherever, do enjoy it.

It's all obviously subjective, but we rented a villa less than 300m from Brasserie Marinha last year and ate there once. Given the choice, we would have dined at Ele & Ela every night, even though it is about 7k away. Unfortunately, we didn't find it until about 4 days before we were due to leave. Don't get me wrong, Marinha is very nice but Ele & Ela is exceptional for food, although Marinha has a better ambience - much more rural.

Look at Bella Vita if you want something really over the top. Really nice but we found it over attentive.

Anyway, enjoy it. Most restaurants are very good and there shouldn't be a problem.

 As you say it is subjective. I had a bad experience at Ele & Ela when I was out on my own last year, wouldn't go back there again, also found the portions to be quite small, I know everyone on this forum rates this restaurant, but I don't, sorry.
