Renault 4 fuel
Renault 4 fuel
Dear all
I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to buy 4 star leaded petrol anywhere in the Algarve. I have a Renault 4 which needs it and it appears that near where I live you are unable to get it any more.
At the moment, I put unleaded in it and the petrol garages add some special additive to it. I was also wondering if it is possible to buy this additive in the shops?
Any help greatly appreciated!

I am actually not sure how the additive thingy works, but they had those red "additivo" bottles on the shelf which I guess you have to fill in and top off with petrol so they mix(?)lizzie wrote:cheers for that. Do you mean you can buy it by the bottle as opposed to having it put in the car with the petrol...if you see what I mean!
I thought to myself I wonder if an R4 will run OK on unleaded. So I spent half an hour or so looking up on the subject and found a lot of people who ran r4's just fine on unleaded. Some had retarded the ignition because it pinked a little and some put additive in on 'fast' trips.
So rather than just saying 'Run it on unleaded' because I wasn't sure, I asked if you were sure that you couldn't run it on unleaded.
Still got deleted.
Entirely up to you obviously what you delete. Perhaps you would like to answer everything yourself. It hardly encourages members to make an effort to give a straight answer to a question if it is just going to get deleted by someone who quite possibly knows less about the subject than the person who supplied the answer

Sorry about that Lizzie, some people get a little edgy sometimes, especially when they get filed in the same drawer as the silly people.
Here is some Q&A on lead additives http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/fuels.shtml
or you could just visit http://www.renault4.co.uk/ for all your R4 needs
