 If they took drastic action on corruption in Portugal they wouldn't have anyone to run the Country or the local governments/camera

Of course they would if it became public, they'd have no choice. But please don't compare Spain to Portugal.

In the Malaga district there are hundreds of British expats who've uprooted their families and are living the good life totally illegally and their underage kids don't go to school nor do they get home schooling Their parents have deemed that spending the good life by the side of the pool is education enough. The expats down there have to pay into a private health fund with helicopter service because there are no decent hospitals in the area, they have to be airlifted to the nearest. There's no postal service and then there's the unhealthy practice of the Spanish being able to "grab" foreigner-owned land for their own purposes.

Albeit far from perfect, whatever goes on in Portugal is a long cry from what goes on in some parts of Spain.

I think things are slowly happening to try to clean things up here too, Martin. Both the government and the Polícia Judiciária seem to be implementing various measures. Anyhow, let's hope so and then things might end up fairer and more equal for every citizen of Portugal.

I was trying to find an article on a report heard on the radio last friday but no luck. The newscast was about several portuguese policemen that had been scentenced to jail for corruption, the longest scentence was nine years - I am not sure if this was unprecedented, but that has to have made people think twice about certain illegal practices.
