SAPO ADSL

Post by nightrider »

I read in The Algarve Resident- That another subscriber to Sapo ADSL was unhappy with their service.
We are on clix and are happy with it,..the package and price suits our needs.

Don't have any complaints personally and have been using them for a long time. Why the rampant negativity? Is this first-hand experience or just a newspaper clipping? Which service do you use?

Hi Gadjo,

The article is in The Resident, Algarve, issue 03.03.06,Page 11 under a letter addressed.... Dear Editor, from a Mr John Brian Tuttle. Maybe he is an isolated case?

I have no personal knowledge with regard ADSL service and therefore, it would be unfair of me to make any comment.

My husband looked into all the providers in the Algarve and he decided on Clix as the best deal for us and I can confirm....that we are very happy with this service as it would appear that you are with ADSL. Therefore, "touch wood" we both appear not to have experienced poor Mr Tuttle's problem.

I think this kind of post is entering very dangerous ground. :(

We have had problems with Sapo. But even more problems with Clix. In our experience Sapo are a dreadful company but Clix are just totally appalling. After cancelling with Sapo in November (and suffering their terrible service before and ever since) we tried to connect with Clix. Over 3 months passed and many hours on the phone and the result was still no ADSL. We told them where to go 4 weeks ago and have now approached World Brokers. Almost 4 weeks on and no result. We shall see. In the meantime we are desperate for a broadband connection. Spending a few minutes a day on dial up is ridiculously expensive.

I think like a lot of things in life, we all purchase various services/products etc and some of us are lucky with some purchasers whilst other people who purchased the very same product are not. But that should not stop any of us being censored in saying that we have had a product of good value for money and like Mr Tuttle in the Algarve Resident Newspaper, when we have problems. In this way we can all help each other with information and is that not the very reason why such a good forum and this particular section was set up in the first place.

I am sure that you have checked this but over the past few days there has been a proliferation of copy and pasting from other web sites (mainly web based news sites) - many of these are copywrited and should not be copied onto other sites - with the attention to such details paid by most people on here I am sure express permission has been sought but still felt it worthy of a mention - just in case :)

I do know on one site I visit they have barred all copy and pasting from other sites and you always have to post a link to the original site - this is because they have got into trouble and obviously cannot rely on every registered member to ensure they have express permission to use other peoples material.

As I said I don't doubt that has been requested and given on the proliferation over the past few days.

Thank you for pointing this out. The Algarve Resident comes out on a Thursday/Friday on the News Stands and I personally, have purchased a copy every week for the past 5 years. It is also displayed on the Internet, whereby anyone can read it, free of charge. On checking other threads, various members from time to time have posted from newspapers etc. A member of the owner's family was at dinner with us last Sunday and I will of course check this out. Once again thank you for drawing my attention to this matter.
Regards. N.R.

Brilliant - I was sure you would have checked it out and got permission especially as the site itself says material can be copied for private use only and it should not be reproduced on other websites.

It also has a nifty system for webmasters to use to display current headlines and link to the site from theirs - so it definitely looks as if the owners have considered matters of copywrite.

As much as anything my mention of it was a timely reminder to all of us that we sometimes tread on dodgy ground with what we reproduce (literally by copy and pasting) on here rather than posting a link.
