rainfall figures

with about 2 inches of rains today from my trusty rain checker

well thus according to my totals we have had 51 cm of rain for the rainy season from last year (converted for those who prefer the metric sytem)

methinks its about time we had some more golf courses built

forgot to add ..have you ever noticed how hostile tourists become when it rains?

hands on hips "AND HOW LONG IS THIS GOING TO GO ON FOR ???

OR " ITS RAINING DONT YOU KNOW"

to which the wise resident pleads in defence.."oh I always wondered why the roads are wet"

yes..just realised what I wrote..must have been affected by that modern scourge of modern times SAD - season affected disorder....dont know if there are any pills you can take?

I was out in CVO last week and had the good fortune to play golf at Palmares, Alto and Morgado and was delighted to see how green the countryside was. Indeed the two reservoirs at Morgado were full, so presumably other reservoirs in the area are filling up. Perhaps the 'wingeing' about golf courses will soon stop. Each to his own I say.

My only gripe is the cost of golf on the Algarve now. There seem to be fewer people on the courses and presumably the owners feel that as a result they must increase the prices to reach their income targets?

Hi tomgibson,
I for one like to see people enjoying themselves no matter what the sport or hobby (i.e.my husband and friends are golfers)..... my and others who reside in places like the Algarve and areas where water can be a problem, is out of concern with even more heavy development inclusive of......... a never ending consuming of water by Golf Courses.
Now you state and I have to say I have no proof either way, that Golf Course owners are putting their fees up, because fewer people are playing golf in the Algarve. If this is so then could you or someone please explain to me why more are being built here, like the massive developement, surrounding two more Golf Courses at Alcantarilha?
When I am at Faro Airport, all I see coming down those luggage conveyancer belts are long bags and they certainly do not contain Mrs Cardigan's Knitting Neddles.
On a serious note, if they want more people to play golf here in the Algarve together with incouraging people to buy property, then they have got to produce the other airport asap on the West Coast of the Algarve, this imho will break the monopoly of expensive flights at certain times of the year into Faro Airport.

Very dark outside, so looks like there is more on the way. Good news for the reservoirs.

It is always amazing though, how after a very long, hot summer, where everything turns brown and dusty, to see after some rain the green start to reappear. It would be interesting to look at the satellite maps now and compared to last summer.

Did someone mentioned "Rainfull Figures"..this morning looking out of our villa's windows, the rain was at such a force you could not see around 120-150mtrs across the valley. What a down pour, thankfully we lowered our pool last week. N.R.
