Leaving in less than 12 hours.............
Can anyone help.........leaving for Ferragudo tomorrow mornig first time in Algarve..........cannot wait...........also have never driven abroad aswell!!!
Is it easy? I obviously know about the different side of the road and stuff but are the roads busy........We are being picked up by the villa people at Faro but i was going to rent a car for a few days to travel to a few different places........Is it easy to find your way around.........i have a 4 year old and a 9 year old so don't really want to get lost!!!!!
Also what sort of temperatures are they experiencing at present....i know it was in the 40's early August so i'm sure it's a lot cooler now?
Anyway a very excited person will await any views
Thanks
Gary

Lucky old you Gary, I've got another week to go. Driving abroad for the first time is a bit scary but as long as you keep reminding your self to stay right and in particular when you turn either left or right or pull out of a car park. The road between where your staying and right over to Benagil (covers about six beaches this run) is not a busy road and will give you plenty of pratice before you enter the en125 or the motorway for more trips. Current temps are between 18 overnight and about 30 in the afternoon. The 15 day forecast does not change much either. Have a great time. Mike, Chislehurst.
Would agree with CM above (must be something in the liverpool water
) Dont try anything to daring straight away, get used to it locally. We did the whole driving abroad thing for the first time last year and found are first trip very stressful as we had to drive from faro to carvoeiro at night. Definatley get the villa people to pick you up from the airport!
Also you could maybe consider not renting a car and just using taxis which are very easy to get hold of, would probably amount to the same price of car rental over your stay.
If you do rent though, it isnt hard to find your way around, and youl get the hang of it pretty quickly im sure! oh and stick with renting a small car- we asked for something bigger last year and ended up with a minibus, which didnt help things at all, especially when parking!
PS for a day off from driving go on one of the safaris! great for a family day out- the kids will love it!!
