Lost dog

Post by Guest »

A black male poodle dog was found today in the area near Vale de Milho retaurant. He is affectionate and walks well on a lead. He has a collar and has obviously had his coat clipped in the past but it looks as if he has been living wild for a least a few days. His coat needs a good wash and he has a puncture wound on one of his hips.

If anyone knows where he comes from or indeed is interested in offering him a home please contact Nicky Walker on 283 358012

Hi Nicky,
Have you tried the following:-
Check with local vets, it sounds like this dog as you say is lost an a local vet may know it. In Silves there is a dog warden next to Modelo and where most go to check if they have lost a pet or want to give a dog a home...not sure if Carvoeiro have the same set up. Also Parish Council keep a record of dogs that have been registered as Pets etc. An advert in the Algarve Resident is another good idea and Phil at Kiss Radio maybe able to help. There is also others who take in dogs out here, if you need telephone nos please do let me know. Lets hope the owner is found.
By the way if you take it to a vet it may (hopefully) be chipped and then your in luck because of course the owner can be traced. Both our dogs are chipped (i.e. under the UK Pet Passport Scheme) and also have discs on their collars with our telephone number on and the dog's name (stating English on it also).

ps ....and Nicky, like you as an animal lover, thank you for caring :)

I posted the item for Nicky as he lives near me and came to me to see if I knew the dog. He went to the vet on Monday for treatment to his hip and to see if they knew him. I believe that a German woman expressed an interest in taking him - because he really is quite cute - but because I have moved house I have not heard what happened. I will try and find out.

NR

I spoke to Nicky yesterday. The dog went to the vet for treatment and also for castration (its not all good news!). He is now being looked after at one of thje rescue centres with a view to being re-homed. I am sure that he will have no trouble finding a new owner.

Actually Luke,
You could go one better..and get the owners to post photos of any dogs/cats/pets that have gone missing (I believe that someone even lost a parrot recently)....you could then contact (perhaps with leaflets)....all the news medias, animal rescue centers, state run dog warden premises in the area...with the details of your forum etc.....I am not sure if this would be Chit Chat or perhaps a "Lost & Found Corner" standing on it's own :?:
