Buildings Insurance

Post by charlie »

Hi

We have recently purchased an apartment in Carvoeiro and need to arrange buildings insurance asap. Can anyone provide a phone number for a local broker/insurance company? Also has anyone had any experience using one of the UK firms who offer overseas property insurance? Thanks.

It probably depends whether you intend to live there or rent it out. We used Saga (but you have to over 50) when we lived in th UK and rented as they offered a good package. As permanent residents we use the AFPOP scheme with Medal which is tailored to offer the sort of cover that you would be used to in the UK including new for old etc. I am sure that other people with have other suggestions to add.

We use a Portuguese company www.lusitania-cs.pt They are efficient (we insure a car with them too, had a claim, quickly sorted) and have English speakers in their Faro office 289 870420 03 vladimiro.sousa@lusitania-cs.pt

Ditto guest1, they took over from Royal Sun Alliance on our place and seem reasonable on prices. Mike.
