It was Hs fault girls!
I called out to him 'What was that stuff Roger (builder) said was in the sand that causes fungus?'
He said 'its some orgasmic thing.No organistic' (huh?)
But we got there in the end..
and though I did mean to write organisms it somehow came out wrong
(only had 1 glass of Guinness.........)
P.S. Thats interesting about the calor gas causing it. Mind you it was only way to keep warm!

Don't know the name of any companies, as I haven't got involved in it but I am sure some others on here will know. It is just so nice walking about on a warm floor, as opposed to cold tiles. I have noticed a lot more properties having wood-block (or similar) flooring here now too, which makes a place feel warmer than tiles. I think if you have a small place, a wood burning stove or two is adequate to heat the house, but if you have a large villa with only one of those bloody enclosed fireplaces in the living room, it is freezing, even during the day. The villas never seem to heat up at all. Lumps of concrete are hard to heat I suppose.
Most of my friends have some form of heating on from late October until late March I suppose, so that is 5 months of the year.

We too have noticed trend toward " wooden floors " but these need to be laid on a reasonably thick insulating layer to have any positive effect.
Have seen some which were laid over tiles more phycologically beneficial than actual.
In our apartment we have one of those " enclosed " fires, fogo montana, ours seems to work well in in small area but others we know cannot stand them, smoke and lack of direct heat.
We will continue search for good free standing wood burning stove, many we have seen seem very flimsy to us.
Living must be very different to visting. last week with the full sun coming through the windows we did not need any heating during the day.
But at night we did.

We are getting on very well with our enclosed fire (so far), we also have a wafer heater in each of the two groundfloor bedrooms so downstairs we have been as snug as bugs, but we were concerned about upstairs & invested in a calor gas heater which works very well & we also bought a de-humidifier.
The combination of all of the above has kept us very warm & damp free, & the villas not too bad either!
