I got really worried on one of my trips this year.
Id left my hair spray in the car (as these are always confiscated)..but as someone pointed out here, you can buy from Boots in departure lounge. I bought a small can of Elnett..then fixed my hair in toilet.
Completely forgot and put it in handbag..it passed through check-in. When I was seated on board..put bag under seat in front, and the can rolled out.
I kept quiet about it..but all the time I was really worried! Can these things 'explode' when the planes pressurised?
I still feel guilty about it.

Have to say that the confiscation of items always appears pretty 'random' and in my view - apart from a gun and a bomb - a glass bottle is the most lethal weapon out there and of course many of us have one or two of those

I love the countries where you cannot take certain things in or where they are bizarrely worried about foreign foodstuffs but they have malaria, yellow fever, rampant HIV/Aids, typhoid, whatever - thinking of when you go to some african nations or India - always strikes me as vaguely amusing that we worry about different things.

Drinking ought to be rationed on a flight. You don't have to have a weapon or a bottle fists can do a lot of damage too and to much drink can cause the violence.

Damn Eco you posted just as I was pouring a large sun downer - racked with guilt now

Well perhaps not and by the way alcohol doesn't cause violence people do - myself and Mother Teresa (rip) wouldn't get in a fight how ever much we had to drink!

Perhaps they thought that we all looked like a dodgy bunch of potential illegal immigrants on our flight. :D

I have heard of this happening recently to other people but it was the first time I've personally experienced this on my trips into Faro. They probably should check people out more often.

Hi p.c. not going to argue with you about it - but he he..........

2 people no alcohol - could there be a fight - Yes

2 bottles of vodka no people - could there be a fight - NO

Alcohol is a depressant and therefore a disinhibitor but it cannot be the cause of violence.
