Private dctor

Post by Guest »

I am in Carvoeiro on holiday for a month but have discovered I need to see a doctor quite urgently, I have private medical insurance but don't know where to go. I have a car so can get most anywhere, I don't speak Portuguese so I need an english speaking doctor.
Thanks for any advice.

A friend of ours needed a Doctor 2 years ago and saw the one over Smilers Bar. Excellent service, put him in a private hospital in Alvor diagnosed with Typhoid Fever. Great care!

Another holidaymaker took their sick child to the Doctor above Smilers too. They were very impressed with the immediate treatment.

I agree, Graham.

I have looked at other Algarve sites and this is by far the better one. Lively, informative, provocative, thoughful . . . I could go on, but won't.

I am proud to be a part of it - thanks to Steen. :)

The German doctor Popken telephone 282 356 034

For info we had some german friends staying who went to see him and found him very competent, he had to send one of them for x-rays to the Clinica particular de Alvor.
They paid 610 Euros for the x-rays and consultation plus a plastercast. On returnin to the village some locals told them, that the new hospital in Portimao was very good and recommendable. - plus I suspect cheaper...

Just a note in passing. My wife had to attend the Hospital Particular in an emergency a year ago and they were first class.

 I agree with tomgibson, my husband became ill about 4 years ago while we were on holiday in Benagil, we were recommended to go to the Hospital Particular, they very quickly diagnosed Malaria and had him on the correct treatment within an hour of us walking in the front entrance. Unfortunately he had to stay in for a week, but they looked after him extremely well.
