years ago my mother and father waited five years for a phone here in the algarve ...its much better now of course.....until a storm comes ..she (85 years old) has now been without a phone for 2 weeks (and others I know as well) while PT get round to repars.

does PT stand for part time I wonder...and yes before any one asks , we have reported the fault over 20 times.

good thing she is not in business....by now she wouldnt have one

Are you the same person who is constantly whining on about how awful Portugal is? I only ask because said whining person always uses .... between phrases.
If so, you really need to stop complaining. What on earth is the point in telling people on a forum that your mother's phone doesn't work? What do you expect to happen?
Expect the worst and that is normally what happens.

On a positive slant, buy her a mobile

Well our phone went down because of the storm overnight Saturday, I reported it on Sunday. It was fixed on Monday and I had a call from PT Com on Tuesday to check that all was OK.

of course pm, yes I must stop complaining about such a minor thing has having a telephone broken for two weeks, tut tut.

must remember that I cannot expect such things as quick service in europe in 2005, must consider that arent we lucky little beggers to live here.

yes we have bought a mobile, cost 70 euros which we cant realy afford, so that if she has a stroke or something happens we can make contact

It's pretty unhealthy having as bad an attitude as that you know. Misery loves company as my mother in law is likely to say.
As I said, there is no earthly point in complaining here.

so what is the point of saying anything on here?

the forum is for the sharing of info and news and problems, or do you want it to be just a holiday "icecream and beer" site where nothing can be said that might differ from the tourist pr.?

perhaps the news that pt take two weeks to repair might be of interest to those thinking that this is some high tech euro state, it aint.

in reality, waiting for 5 years for a telephone and now 2 weeks for a repair tell me that nothing much has changed

Hey wait a minute PM. I thought the name of this thing was called FORUM. Isn't that what a forum is? ............... a place to complain, discuss an item and give thanks. I believe guest has a valid point about the phone repair. If he cannot complain to PT, why not on this forum. Maybe others have the same problem.

Also it appears PM likes to complain about others complaining and advise they should not have a bad atitude. There appears to be no mirrors in PM's house!

yes good point, a lady I know in the west of algarve who had roadworks outside house and in street for a year, they complaned but it was like hitting your head against a sponge.

so her daughtet resident in uk, telephoned the portuguese embassy and said that (pretending) that she was a producer for Holiday homes from hell and they had received numerious complaints about place and would be going out shortly to film

within two weeks, all repairs were finished

so dont complain??'...yes complain all you can, make it public like here and maybe pt will be treat repairs for 85 old widows with more urgency

I merely point out that just complaining does no good at all. Do something positive instead. I think the chance of anyone to do with Portuguese telephone repair service reading this is pretty remote.

Guest you would do well to ignore .peter. Past master at unrequited personal attacks!

You have every right to come on the forum and tell everyone your experience with PT

pm, Did your Mother in law ever tell you this saying? " A problem shared is a problem halved"

Of course you every right. However I think you would get a more positive result if you say 'I have a problem with this, can anyone suggest how I can get it sorted', rather than just whining.

She doesn't whinge or sign on as guest. There is someone who moans on about how awful Portugal is and how he was going to employ loads of people and transform the economy and now he isn't blah blah and uses ..., and I thought I recognised the style. Probably wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

Do you mind guest..as you see I'm not quite as 'dotty' as I used to be  ..
and my late Mama wouldn't have known one end of a mobile from the other!..she was even slightly in awe of a landline one
Without seeming patronising,I congratulate guest if he has got his 85yearold mum using a mobile..she must be a groovy lady
P.S. Thank-you Peter! :) actually the only time I whinge or go 'on & on',is if I lose money :?..
'I'd rather give it away' is the constant phrase ringing round the house if I lose a fiver or even a couple of bob
