GREEN FLAG - Swimming permitted

YELLOW FLAG - Swimming forbidden

RED FLAG - It is forbidden to swim or enter the water

CHEQUERED - The beach is temporarily unattended.

BLUE FLAG – beach/water is reasonably clean, safe, good access, got rubbish bins etc http://www.blueflag.org sponsored by the tourist industry ….. therefore not many blue flag beaches outside the tourist traps.
