Lisbon
Just a little extra piece of advice for car travellers:
on the motorway between Mssines and Almodóvar you are likely to encounter a white car with an open trunk (so you dont immediatly realize it is a Nissan Primeira) and an olive green M-Class Merc parked at the roadside pretending to be some poor sod who has just broken down (with a Merc???!??
).
This is a radar trap and you will find out the hard way when the little opel vectra with the blue flashy lights pulls up behind you a few kms down the road. Keep your peepers peeled.
Happy trails.

i think the train back is about 6 o clock... cant be certain...they are busy electrifying the line so by next year the journey will be quicker and you wont have to get off but the line will go straight under the 25 th april bridge. best to make a recon trip to the station or go to silves or prtimao and ask first

Re Lisbon
We stgayed in Lisbon 4 nights in a nice Hotel right in the centre. Great for all the siteseeing. Could let you have the name if you need it. Paid round about £22 a night. Very good.
You need a few days to see all the sites, we even went to see a premiership football match. Lots to see and plenty to do. Stay a few nights.

here you have the train timetable. choose faro-(tunes)-barreiro (and then you still have half an hour to the centre of lisbon by boat): you can also take the train from silves to tunes.

Hi Mike
Amazing that such a routine enquiry has led to so many interesting & varied replies together with hundreds of 'viewings'. I hope you enjoy your visit to Lisbon & let us all know how you got on!
(I wish I was in CVO now - away from this rain).

Thanks for this. If I'm not mistaken it seems the train leaves Tunes at 07:57 and returns at 18:25. Good.
