Whats the meaning or thinking behind some of the names eg Biffa, Hommo Poco , Nightrider?

Homen is man.dont know what hommo is and poco means well or shaft.
Seen biffa on side of refuse truck.

David Hasselhoff was nightrider in the tv series with the car that spoke.

hommo is a sort of Greek paste, so hommo poco means 'well pasted'.
Biffa is, as you say, a dustcart company but is also the name of a bear. Do you see it's a pun.
nightrider is again a play on words. This time Knight Ridder, which publishes newspapers in America. Nightrider, on the other hand, reads newspapers in Portugal.

Biffa was also a Geordie character in the Viz comic who spent his life brawling!! Does not sound like the Biffa we know does it ??

My LagartoRoxo moniker is the Portuguese translation of an English nickname I was awarded a few years back... literally, it means 'Purple Lizard'.

The Lizard part is due mainly to my being a 'Pond Monitor' at middle school (feeding the fish and so on) and now, the amount of time I spend in front of computer monitors - 'Monitor' being a particular species of lizard, of course. I've been told that the word Lizard lends itself rather well to the 'nerdy' aspect of computers - hence I am sometimes referred to as the 'Liznerd' by my non-tecchy friends.

As for the Purple? Well - that's a bit more simple. Some people 'see red' when they get wound-up. Me, I'm much more creative... I go into 'Purple Mode'. One particular moment of Microsoft 'Blue-Screen Abort Retry Fail' induced stress forced my colourful rage into full effect and thus brought the Purple and the Lizard-esque elements together infront of a very alarmed friend and thus the Purple Lizard was, um... born.

Ah, yes - of all the nicknames I've been 'blessed' with over the years, LagartoRoxo is about the only one I'm glad stuck...

I'm B2D - I used to be Biffa's 2nd Darling but I had a millenium Y2K style rename. Biffa's 1st darling is the bigger version of me

We had a work college who we nicknamed BIFFA. A rather large lad, who was very rude to people. He thought it was very flattering to be called BIFFA. If he had only had known the true meaning of what it stood for....
