Did Spybot find many problems and how many copies of Internet Explorer were there in the process list?

Nothing!
Have you run a virus scan?
What is the error message when you uninstall?
I
t also seems to have a mind of its own and interferes with things
Explain please.
It also appears to have a dial up connection activated.
What do you see? Do you use dial-up?

Yes , PM. Have run virus scan. Error message -6001. Looked it up in Help and doesn't exist! I have broadband and when computer starts to connect to Internet, Kaza symbol comes up in taskbar before anything else, even before my homepage comes up. Since Kaza has been on, have lots of pop-ups and startup slower.

Have you run kazaabegone? lspfix is supposed to fix the bit that kazaabegone breaks.
if you aren't sure about this stuff, give someone local some money to fix it.

Playing about with lspfix and hijackthis can totally screw your pc. If you aren't confident about doing this, get someone to fix it for you.

PM - was following your previous advice regarding the warning - the warning states that before you run kazabegone you have to run the ISPFix.
