howdy all. Topic not on carvoeiro but : i was wondering if anyone knows a book the -title and author escape me- about how Portugal/Portuguese influenced the world. It is written by an English journalist living in Portugal(blind i think) and is basically a list of how Portugal/Portuguese has influenced the world!
cheers

Try e-mailing Sundance at Magna Carta. She is Portuguese and has an English language bookshop in Alvor, so she is bound to know or at least can find out for you. Her web site is www.magna-carta.biz. :D

Hang on.... there was a book about Portugal by a Deaf guy (not blind I'm afraid) who was a friend of Patrick Swift's and lived up at Alfanzina. I might have it at home. I think his surname was Wright... could be David?

It was written a long time ago - might be out of print.

think i may at some point have come across that book by Patrick Swift on the Algarve- very amusing stories on carvoeiro back when it was literally still a fishing village? The book i was hoping to get hold of though was only published a few years back and ,i believe, was relatively popular. Also it was in English. I've tried to google etc but without title n author it's bloody difficult!!

The only thing I can think of, is try googling by subject, and see if a name or title rings a bell.

Let us know if you find it, it sounds intresting.

David Wright (as mentioned by B2D) & Patrick Swift jointly wrote three books about Portugal: one called ‘Algarve’ (I think Ellie has a copy?)

.... can't find details on the other two :?
