some nice people have started a campaign to clean up Portugal! They are collecting lots & lots of photos of rubbish in places it shouldn't be. And this time next year they will be presented to the President, the PM, the tourist board, the camaras, the newspapers, TV and the People.

to participate, send your photos of rubbish in places it shouldn't be to lixolixobot@gmail.com - comments welcome - but be nice! and don’t forget to say where the photo was taken.
Thank you

No, it's not just you, I think they have a sense of being about them. In years to come it'll be the rubbish we leave behind that archaeologists will unearth and use to work out who we were and what we did.B2D wrote:is it just me or does anyone else find those photos rather beautiful...? There is something very melancholic about them, evidence of human intervention in nature without the person being present in photo.
oh just me then!
I shall be in Portugal over christmas and will be adding my own contribution.

Sorry B2D..have to agree with Lesley on this one
Afraid all I see is we humans making too much rubbish, not only spoiling the countryside and towns/cities by leaving it lying around but the big question is..
what we're doing to our ecology? we're digging more and more rubbish pits and some of this stuff will never rot down but seeps down into the earth finds its way into our rivers & waterways causing evermore pollution!
If we could do away with some of the immense amount of packaging that everything has these days - that would help some..
and in this case in Portugal( & here in UK too)..introduce heavier fines for leaving litter?!

B1D, I’m inspired
On this forum we are gonna have our own dog shit photo competition
A prize for the one who captures that Eminesque beauty. But I has to be genuine Portuguese, so do please try to get one on the calçada, on top of a crumpled super bock tin or something.
spread the word
