Wedding
Could anyone tell me if it is possible to come and get married in the Algarve. Everything I have read says that one of us would have to be in Portugal for 30 days before the wedding? Does anyone know if this is correct or if there is anyway around it?

Super bock, I investigated getting married in Carvoeiro earlier this year for my sister. The information about having to be resident for 30 prior to the wedding was told to me as well, by a solicitor. My sister decided that the easiest way was to get married in the UK by a registrar and then having a blessing in Portugal. One venue suggested to us was Casa Domilu, on the road towards Benegil. I'm not sure now of the website but the hotel looked really nice. Hope you manage to sort it out. I do have a list of legalities for getting married in Carvoeiro if you want it , please pm me.
Good Luck

Bruxy can you make it just a bit longer please i.e. give me time to pop over to the UK to purchase a hat etc.......Bruxinha wrote:Does anyone have any idea as to the reasoning behind the 30 days business...mind you, I for one should know better than ask such a stupid question shouldn't I?
If you are a resident of an EU member country it seem nuts to me. Why shouldn't someone be able to get married where they want?

We looked into this for our daughter earlier this year & she decided it would be easier to have a civil ceremony in the UK & an exchanging of vows ceremony in The Algarve.
The Tivoli Almansor hold wedding ceremonies & they said they could find an officiator for the ceremony.
If the weather permits, depending on time of year, the couple can get married on the cliff top overlooking the cove.
If you email them they will send you a wedding pack.

By chance last night I was invited to a friends house..but it turned out to be a 'Park'...... near Carvoeiro...acres of lush grounds ..Palm trees ..two Pools..and water falls etc etc.....plus of course a nice Villa smack in the Villa.....I have no commercial connection at all with the owner....but he has other Villas and lets this one out for over four Grand a week in Summer...BUT..for much of the year its empty and really Ideal for weddings...if anybody is interested I can pass on his contact......Ax said I have no involvment at all.just thought...wow ..what a great place to hold a wedding....
