free to view cards are not needed anymore unless you wnat to see channel 4 and sky 3 (very weak signal) also channel 5 is a weak signal here....as from yesterday itv 1 itv 2 itv 3 itv 4 are all free to air (ie no card reqd) plus men and motors (part of itv) and of course all bbc channels 1.2.3.4 and radio are all available with no card reqd

no doubt channel 4 wiil be forced into going free to air one day

So what is the minimum requirement to be able to see BBC + ITV in Portugal? I know nothing at all about satellite telly. Also, how on earth do you set it up? How do you know where to point the dish to? Do you need to buy any sort of subscription to anything?

I had great hopes for men and motors. I thought it would be cars + being told constantly that you are inferior and only being allowed to stay around as you are so good with rewiring plugs and spider removal. Imagine my disappointment to find it was motorbikes and the Sweeney.

you need a digibox (better) or free to air receiver (cheaper) and about a 1.2 mtr dish...its best if you get someone to install it...try aaron phillips as you drive into cvo on right after remax

bbc prime does not come from the 28 degrees satellite that most people use in the uk it comes from hotbird also you cant use a sky type digibox it must be a viaaccess box
also on this sat there is not many uk programs
dont get mistaken that bbc prime is the same as the uk bbc 1 its not
it is a channel produced by the bbc for use abroad and it is and always will be encripted

There are a number of UK companies offering freesat boxes and cards for around £100.
Am I right in assuming that all we would need to receive this in the algarve is the correct dish ( 150cm ) plus an engineer to align and set it up ???
If so what would be the est costs of dish etc.
