Thanks I have the offer from banifs, who told me when I was in there branch at Portimao, Last week that they wont Lend off shore. Barclays in Lisbon have told me the same.. Totta in London told me the same only yesterday.....Can you suggest Another

Where you are resident for tax I am advised is a factor that shoud be considered.

A mortage (or second mortage) should be considered on a UK owned property and the money used to purchase a property (shares) in an offshore company in a WHITE listed domain.

It would appear that various international branches of Uk and similiar Banks do lend based on various criteria

Have you considered contacting a financial advisor here in the Algarve .

I have only picked up on this subject.

If you contact Banco Totta in London 0207 236 1515 - they will be more than willing to help. That is unless their criteria has changed in the last 2 weeks. I have spent the last 4 months looking for options and must have spoken to most banks and/or financial advisers - all saying the same thing.

As far as I know Totta is the only bank prepared to fund offshore property purchases in Portugal.
