can any one help

were looking to buy a property in portugal next year, but have limited information on the process, can any one recommend an informative website on this subject.

Also is land grabbing a factor in portugal?, i read in spain the goverment can take your land from you, to build new roads etc.. and make you pay contributions to the upkeep. Does this happen in Portugal.?

Send me a pm with an e-mail contact and I can send you my "tips/info. list" I've drawn up about buying property here as an attachment if you like. I will also think of any sites that may be of interest to you, but the best thing is to surf the Internet and read as many books and info as you can to get a well rounded picture.

Don't know about any land grab issues here like in Spain, but I believe some people have been paid very little compensation, if anything it seems, when the government decided to extend the A22 in the Algarve. You do have to be careful of the possibility of people slicing bits off of any land you may want to buy without you realising and without your permission though and then them selling it on to someone else at a later stage. Got to dash out but send me the pm and I'll be in touch.

Yes, I would rather just send it to people, who personally request it via a pm at the moment. I want to to share the information I've found and the experiences I've had with as many people as possible. That is the whole point of me doing it. But I think most of it has found its way into my various posts anyhow, so as I said on the FAQ post, might be best to scan through my posts. I know I have covered lawyers, real estate agents, companies in the UK etc etc.

The document is also very long 8 to 10 pages depending on how you print it off, so I don't think it is something for a forum really.

As for the book, I have got 2 on the go, but it is a slow and painful process and it still might be some time before I emulate our star forum author Ellie. My tactic in mentioning it to people, is that they will nag me about it when they see me.

By the way I am happy for people to pm me with questions that they would prefer not to post on the forum and if I can't help I might know which direction to point you at least.

Perhaps at the moment, but I am awaiting news from a major publisher who is considering commissioning me to write a book on backgammon

Excuse me for being a noddy about it MC, but how popular is backgammon? I mean how many people play it around the world and are there countries where it is really popular? Just curious.

I played it a few times several years ago and I remember it being fun.

So does it mean you will whip me in the world best seller's list?

Anyhow, I am used to being whipped in competition this week...just ask Gambo...yawn, yawn.

Backgammon is very popular. The web has attracted thousands of new players, many of whom don't fully understand the basics - and they are my market.

Will I be rich? Don't know - it all depends on the deal they offer me; but so far I am more than happy with what's been mentioned. I suppose with a world-wide readership I might have a 'best-seller' on my hands - but it won't go to my head . . . it's big enough already (according to my many critics!)
