Take a look at the FAQs and give me your honest opinions. Do you have anything to add, or a topic you'd like to see there?

I have deliberately posted this in General because more than likely it'll be guests that'll be looking in and I value their opinions . . . . .

. . . . can't believe I said that!

Very good :D
You’ve been busy MC …. well done

So what happens next? is it unlocked?

No, it'll remain locked. It is a 'read-only' forum. However, questions not answered in the FAQs or via the search facility can be posted in General and will be answered - and eventually moved to the FAQs.

Thanks for your support.

Michael - don't wish to be "picky" about your excellent one page map, but there is a roundabout now where the road used to split to Carvoeiro/Sesmarias - Perhaps you'll be able to take a photo in December, or if it helps, I can.

Just a bit to add re shopping hours
Most supermarkets open everyday 9am to 9pm, thoses which are regarded as hypermarkets e.g. Modelo Portimao and Continent in Guia have to close at 1pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays (Intermache seem to regard themselves on Sundays as a large store and close at 1pm but seem to decide they are a smaller supermarket when it is a bank holiday and stay open allday.)

Lidel, Plus ( the name of the new one at the Lagoa roundabout) and Modelo in Silves all open every day of the year expect Christmas Day and May 1st (workers day ).

In the summer peak periods times vary some open at 8am , some 8.30am and it is possible in July and August to shop in Modelo and Continent until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. (These put up signs with their opening hours for each day).

Hold on being Portugal there has to be a exception :o :o During November and December all supermarkets, what ever their size can open all day Sunday and Bank Holidays so even more time to do your Christmas shopping :) :)

Hope this helps a bit.

Michael,

I seem to remember that the Modelo in Silves is open all day on Sunday. I don't have the exact times but I'm sure Bruxinha can help on that.

It's always handy to know when you have a hangover and have just missed the 1 o'clock opening times at Intermarché!

Great FAQ section. I thought you only wanted to be a moderator so your name would appear in green but it's actually very informative!

Thanks for the support you've all shown me. I am pleased to see that the doubters are being proven wrong.

Thunderbolt: I look good in green, don't I?

Note: All of the above have been updated in FAQs

Hello :)

The FAQs are really helpful, but I was wondering if there's a space for recommended 'must see' places, beaches, bars etc? I'm coming to Carvoeiro in May with my family and friends and would like to know the places the locals recommend!
