I am attempting to write a book at the moment on a similar theme but it won't be on the shelf for some while I fear, as I am only up to page 10 at the moment.

In return for your compliment, I promise I won't have a chapter entitled "Portuguese men and how to deal with them".

I think the more books people read about relocating the better. Then you can get a wide range of opinions, as opposed to limiting yourself to one person's prospective. I mean I could read and write about what is meant to happen in Portugal but what actually happens on the ground is another matter when you live here.

I also think a lot of the books try to cover too many areas and, therefore, don't give detailed and good advice. I now know an awful lot about buying property and the things to look out for here on a streetwise level but I don't have that knowledge, say about employment law etc.

I am sure you are a very nice bloke ROTCIV. I have a fantastic Portuguese male friend up in Lisbon. Unfortunately, I have just met plonkers here in the Algarve. C'est la vie
