moving to Portugal

We have just built a villa and are planning to send furniture/household goods down from the UK. We have been quoted very high prices from removal companies here - has anyone out there had any experience of this or can offer any suggestions.

Hi - re your query about transporting furniture, etc. If you contact the Algarve Resident website, there are always advertisements about 'vans travelling to UK - no load too small' etc. Perhaps one of those might lead you to something more suitable to your pocket??

we are also moving to the algarve next month from essex and have also come across this problem with how expensive the removal companys are but i have contacted a company here in essex and there rates seem quite reasonable and they may be able to strike a deal for cash so they said to me.
i havent used them yet so i dont know what there like but if you want to give them a call there name is Digbys of Basildon in Essex and there number is 01268 728855

Hi we have just sent some large items to Algarve, used a gent called Malcom based in Lagos, very helpful, he collected from UK and delivered on time in Lagos, he makes this trip often and take various loads, also extreemly reasonable. Definatly Worth a call 00351 282 688 056 worth a call Good Luck
