Hi Guest,

YES, you said it, it would be intelligent.

I found your posting very interesting.

I know where Alvor present small airfield is, but not the location of the F1 piste.

Is the present Alvor Airport privately owned?

With regard the F1 piste, any idea of what the distance is between it's location and the proposed Alvor new Airport?

I know it maybe of no importance. but I live between Silves and Algoz and in an elivated position (i.e. views for miles) about 2 yrs ago for about 5 days we had a small plane flying round and round our area. A Portuguese neighbour telephoned Alvor Airport and was told it was for the "airforce" and was mapping :?:

Dose anybody on the forum know anything about this?

To answer your questions......

TThe new Piste (Track) is about 7 to 8 kilometres north of Penina (Alvor Airport)

Alvor airport is owned by Camera municipal Portimao but has prvate companies working there....( Leased buildings etc)

The new Racing track will host....Karting/ Saloon / F3/F3000 / superbikes / many other types of Bike racing and many other types of car racing ..classic etc etc......F1 will use it for practice weeks due to location/weather and cost.as they do all year round in Spain) ......so dont kid yourself by stating...there will never be F1 here.there will , and it wont be a two hour race..it will be all day / week testing.

Little planes flying round and round......Dunno..maybe his rudder was stuck !!!...seriously though ..They did do a lot of mapping here few years back....but to carry out such activity requires special military permission , nowdays its usually taking pics of villas and then selling them to the owners...

Check your facts please guest, I work for a company which is the second largest glasshouse manufacturing company in europe.

There is NO UK market, in the channel islands there are virtually no commercial glasshouses left.
In Holland they rely on very high value products to offset high energy and labour costs.

Still as our parents said a little dirt never did any of us any harm,( don,t think she meant chemical soup and diluted s*** though.)

If you don,t think it could happen in rthe algarve ( once the water returns ) next time you fly into Faro from the east have a look down at the polytunnels inland from Olhao.

God knows what you do for them. Sweep up I expect.

As I said, there are 50 acres of peppers a couple of miles from here and masses of tomatoes. There is an awful lot of glass on the Sussex coast

For what is is worth just sold phasee I of a contract for walmart in the states to a grower who has a contract for 2.5 million indoor plants.

Next time you are in your local supermarket check out where your peppers, tomatoes etc come from.

Not the UK.

Our glasshouse market does not even register on the global scale.

Bruxhina original post was about the situation in Murcia and likely comparisons with the algarve.
My contribution was to add thefacts that in Murcia they have a huge agro business competing for water with housing developments.

What FI, ALvor airport and linconshire peppers have to do with this ******* knows.
Although I may not always be in total agreement with her views out of respect lets please keep to the subject.
