Car Tyres

Post by JWT »

Can anyone please advise me if there are any suppliers for new tyres for my 4x4 in the Algarve.
I have mentioned this subject to the mechanic who looks after the vehicle and he has advised me to go to Spain to purchase these, himself annoyed at what he calls the rip off prices being charged for tyres in Algarve. And considering that he is Portuguese thats quite a bold statement

Anyone actually been to Spain to get tyres and are the savings worthwhile?

Not particularly close if you are in Cvo but http://www.algarpneus.pt/ is in Almancil. Their web site gives details of their 4X4 tyres and their "promociones". Nearer than Spain anyway

I bought 4 new tyres for my jeep on ebay from the UK and had them shipped by direct transport and fitted locally. Total cost was about 50% of the cost here.

I got some tyres for a Land Rover from a guy in Lagoa and he gave me a good discount...at least 20% I recall. At the dodgy crossroads at Lagoa by Café Moinho (I think it is called) from Fatacil and Blue Elephant direction take a right then immediate left and he is a little way up on the right before another café. He not only put the new tyres on but seemed to do a very thorough job balancing them and checking all the pressures including the spare on the back.
