Bistro Algar Seco
Bistro Algar Seco
This is the Thursday evening meeting place for CVO com.
It probably has the best view in Carvoeiro - average to good Portuguese style food nicely presented and at very reasonable price (particularly considering the situation).
Daytime they serve snacks and full meals, but evening only full meals - always a selection of fresh vegetables and salad accompaniment rather than the ubiquitous frozen chips and veg. in some other establishments.
Possibly the best recommendation is that characters such as Gambrinus, KTee, Bruxinha and myself eat there regularly.

(It is a Adobe pdf.file: so you have too "zoom" to 100% to read it)
The full name is 'Bistrobar Algar Seco Parque' and is number 22 on the Freemap (available from Tourist office or most retailers.
Follow signs from top of Estrada do Farol (opposite 'A Rede' ) to Algar Seco - just down the hill to Algar Seco is a gate, normally with a board showing daily specials - follow the path and you come to it, complete with 3 pools.
See also my comments in 'Events' section about it.

visited for the first time last week.fantastic setting, good food but just a bit too slow with the service but that may have been because of the large party and day of week, but def go again
We ate here for the first time last summer, I ordered the salad nicoise, it was very strange served with warm cooked carrots in the salad & some sort of coleslaw & beetroot. I think I detected a german influence, it was edible but not a salad nicoise. My husbands meal was also very disappointing. May be we just went on an off day. Haven't been back since. Should try it again as it really does have the most fabulous view.
