VAT increase (19 to 21%) would add 1.7% to a total price (without "extras")

Admit do not know the CVO eateries too well but the situation cannot be any different elswwhere in the Algarve we have visted and eaten at many time sthis year.
1) Increase in VAT

2) Increase in tourists this year meaning more demand at the popular places means they can get higher prices.

3) Portugal is experienceing the same increase in costs as the UK, fuel energy etc.

4) Drought = higher costs for vegetables and salads.

Its ceratinly not labour costs, the waiters at one of the top places in Albufeira earn 3 euros/hr ( UK minimum 7 euros/hr )

Even with the increases s we think that it is still good value.

Why any one would think that prices could be the same a Turkey amazes me, but then we know of a couple who went to Mojacor and thought they were in Mallorca.

Never over estimate the intelligence and knowledge of the average traveller ( why else did time shares do so well !! ).

Todays papers reported Spain yesterday has slapped a 10% increase on the price of drinks and 5% on cigarettes.....might sway tourists into holidaying in Algarve instead?
