Hi, Where can I buy Haddock fish

I've looked at the local fish markets but I have yet to find any haddock on sale

A good haddock is hard to find.

What is the point in having a forum where people are encouraged to seek information about cvo and the algarve and you get such a stupid response. After reading that who in their right mind would ever pose a question here, and be exposed to ridicule. And they talk about ' guests' driving people away. But of course this is the senior member and he can say what he likes and nobody will say Boo to him, and he will come back with another equally off-putting response and the clique will all gather round, giggle, and say 'well done' Cowboy

I saw Johnny Boy's post and that reply popped into my head.
I thought it was finny, and I only did for the halibut.
(I guess it helps if you are familiar with Mae West)

I ment no offense.

BTW there have been more than a few here who have said a lot more than "boo" to me.

Most, but far from all, have been "Guests".

Why on earth would anyone want to buy haddock in Portugal when you can get such wonderful fish?

The only pla(i)ce you'll get haddock in Portugal I think is in the freezer cabinet in Intermarche or similar supermarket, very expensive as it's imported. Don't see the point with all the lovely fresh fish in Portugal

Have to agree with Ellen & PM on this Johnny love all the fresh fish there....do you mean fresh Haddock or maybe smoked?(both a favourite of mine).....
and I'll ask question now...
can you buy smoked fish in Algarve? Are Kippers or smoked Haddock heard of?
I've only recently discovered that Haddock is one of the Cod family..never knew that!
but think Haddock has more flavour..

Pm - I find it hard to find tuna steak. Would most probably have to grab me Mums fishman and put an order in. Personally your argument doesn't wash - look in your fridge and I bet you have at least one item that isn't from country where you live:roll:
Don't you ever get cravings PM but you do come across as 'uptight'? Loosen up, its no good for the blood pressure being so serious

......................I love dark chocolate but sometimes I really can't get enough of the German peppered Salami which I've been tucking into this week but Monday will be buying smoked salmon... but it won't have come from the Mersey

But at this moment I could really eat some Morecambe bay shrimps and the best mushy peas in the world

Btw Lancashire or Cheshire local potatoes are better than Jersey royals - everyone agrees they're a rip off and tasteless

And I wouldn't mind tucking into one of Cowboys steaks too

I may be slightly biased but to me there is no where has haddock like you get in Scotland, also naturally smoked, not the nauseating yellow painted stuff. Have never seen or heard of haddock or smoked fish in Algarve, but I am no authority on the subject, someone might know better, but of course there is some really delicious fresh fish here in Portugal.

But as for the smoked fish...never yet tasted Scotland's finest....but have had wonderful locally smoked 'Kippers' in Whitby

'Wet ' fish shops are not so plentiful in UK as years ago....
but have good one in Boston where I buy Skate(yummy)......
I have eaten Skate at a small restaurant in Lagoa..which wasn't bad..but when there I much prefer to eat the fresh sardines..swordfish..cavala..cherne..and many others which Ive long forgotten names of!
